Erin B. Williams

Special Counsel

Erin B. Williams is an experienced healthcare attorney, who counsels clients on a broad range of healthcare
issues. She has represented a variety of healthcare providers ranging from individual providers to healthcare
entities, including large physician groups, hospital entities, ambulatory surgery centers, post-acute care
providers, staffing companies, DME suppliers, and healthcare management companies, among others.

She has extensive experience analyzing and investigating potential compliance issues, implementing practical
solutions, and navigating providers’ obligations to voluntarily report and refund. She regularly assists clients with an in-depth analysis of Medicare, Medicaid, and other payor reimbursement rules, including complex or novel billing issues. Ms. Williams has defended healthcare providers in numerous regulatory enforcement actions, including False Claim Act investigations and litigation, as well as through the administrative process for postpayment audit and provider enrollment appeals.

Prior to joining Woolf, McClane, Bright, Allen & Carpenter as Special Counsel, she was a shareholder for over a
decade at another healthcare law firm before accepting an in-house position at a large physician organization.
As an in-house attorney, she gained hands-on experience assisting healthcare compliance professionals with
developing, implementing and updating compliance plans and policies, performing compliance risk assessments, and developing compliance investigation plans and mitigation strategies. She has worked closely alongside providers’ in-house teams, including revenue cycle, human resources, coding, and payor contracting, and can offer a unique perspective when advising these teams on regulatory and compliance issues.

Ms. Williams is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Tennessee Bar Association and the
Knoxville Bar Association. She served as an adjunct professor of law for an upper-level healthcare law class,
developing both the curriculum and content for the class. She co-authored the “Fraud and Abuse Laws” chapter
of the Health Law Essentials book published in 2023.
