C. Eliza Scott is an associate in the firm whose practice is focused primarily on cyber law, contract and transactional matters, and estate planning.
Ms. Scott was born in Centerville, Georgia in 1978 and raised in the Oak Ridge and Knoxville, Tennessee areas. She graduated from The University of Tennessee with a B.A. in political science, with an additional sixty plus hours of coursework in electrical engineering, computer programming, and the sciences. She obtained her J.D. from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 2015. While in law school she participated in the Business Law Clinic.
Prior to and during law school, Ms. Scott worked for various contractors for the Department of Energy at both the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Y-12 National Nuclear Security Complex. While at ORNL, she worked extensively in computer and network security, specializing in system vulnerability assessment, custom security scripts and programs, and ownership of unregistered systems. Her experience at Y-12 served as her introduction to federal technology transfer programs, patentability assessments, and labor law.
Ms. Scott is licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee and is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association.
Mrs. Scott holds a GLEG certification* provided by the Global Information Assurance Certification Organization ("GIAC"). This certification was earned through successful passage of an examination by GIAC, following completion of the Law of Data Security and Investigations course provided by the SANS Institute. The SANS Institute is a widely-recognized educational leader within the field of computer security.
