Louis C. Woolf


Louis C. Woolf is a member of the firm. He is a trial lawyer who has tried and been responsible for cases in approximately 37 different states and has taken over 100 cases to verdict. His practice is nationwide and focuses on the organization, management, and trial before juries of litigation considered significant by the client because of size, complexity, or the issues involved. Since 1987, Mr. Woolf has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for personal injury litigation.

Mr. Woolf represents a large number of major petroleum, chemical and other diverse companies in cases involving claims of injury, death, and property damage resulting from exposure to allegedly toxic materials. He is national counsel for a number of these companies with regard to specific products or types of claims. He has defended automotive cases involving the design of various vehicles, including fuel tank fire cases, transmission cases, seat belt cases, rollover cases and other automotive components, as well as being intimately involved in the defense in various parts of the United States of asbestos-related personal injury and property damage claims. In addition, over the years Mr. Woolf has participated as lead counsel in the defense of medical malpractice cases, the defense of railroad crossing accidents, and various product liability cases involving a wide variety of products from lawn mowers to prostheses.

Mr. Woolf, born in Brooklyn, New York, graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1960 and was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1961. He is a Life Member of the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Mr. Woolf is admitted to practice law in all courts of the State of Tennessee, the U.S. District Courts of Tennessee (Eastern, Middle and Western Districts), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th and 11th Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States.

In addition to his trial calendar, Mr. Woolf participates as a speaker at various seminars in the product liability field with regard to both substantive and procedural issues arising out of product liability litigation. Mr. Woolf has made several presentations to the American Bar Association and Tennessee Bar Association on the subject of admissibility of expert testimony.
