Mike Baisley is an associate in the firm, practicing in the
areas of real estate, construction and surety law, contracts,
corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and general business and commercial litigation.
Mr. Baisley is a native of Rockwood, Tennessee. He earned his B.A. in political science and philosophy from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, with a concentration in the classics. In 2005, he earned his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College
of Law.
During law school, Mr. Baisley was an editor for The Tennessee Law Review, as well as Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law. He served as President of the Business & Tax Law Association and also became a member of the Moot Court Board after he earned honors for “Best Brief” in the 2004 Advocate’s Prize Moot Court Competition. In 2005, Mr. Baisley received a Dean’s Citation for his service to the College of Law.
Mr. Baisley’s published articles include: Case Commentary: Capital Factors, Inc. v. Kmart Corp., 291 B.R. 818 (N.D. Ill. 2003), 5 Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law 180 (Fall 2003); and Case Commentary: Long v. Grill, 799 N.E.2d 642 (Ohio App. 2003), 5 Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law 425 (Spring 2004).
Mr. Baisley is a member of the Knoxville, the Tennessee, and the American Bar Associations. He is also a member of the McMinn-Meigs County Bar Association, the Young Lawyer’s Division of the TBA, and the Federalist Society. He serves as Secretary and Treasurer for the Knoxville Barristers and as co-chair of the Knox County High School Mock Trial Committee. He is a member of the Construction Leadership
Council for the Association of General Contractors and the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry. Mr. Baisley is admitted to practice in all Tennessee state courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
